Our offerings in the BikeLab are for cyclists of all levels. Whether you’re a new rider who wants to set heart rate training zones or a seasoned athlete who’s seeking to fine tune your pedal stroke, we have the tools and expertise to help you. The BikeLab is equipped with the Computrainer Lab version for the highest accuracy during testing. The best part is, you get to ride your own bike on the CompuTrainer for all testing! We work with commuters, endurance road riders, competitive racers, triathletes, and mountain bikers.
Our services are for cyclist who are 1) setting training benchmarks, 2) have pain or injuries that are keeping them off the bike, and 3) want to improve their efficiency on the bike through technique analysis and biofeedback.
1) Heart Rate Training Zones- Develop heart rate training zones based on your performance during this 1 hour session. Measurements will be taken of your Lactate Threshold Heart Rate and Average Power Output. This is an effort-based test, no blood analysis will be done during this session. At the end of this session you will be given your training zones and a thorough review of how to use this information.
2) Bike Fit- During this 1 hour session, you will receive an analysis of your musculoskeletal issues related to the bicycle you ride the most. Your issues may originate from imbalances in your body (injuries, weakness, inflexibility, overuse), poor positioning on the bike, or a combination of the two. The goal of this session is to focus on creating a better relationship between you and your bike. Based on your unique situation, adjustments may be made to your bicycle and homework may be given for you to focus on problem areas highlighted in your analysis. **Depending on your condition and your policy, this service may be covered through your insurance company.
3) SpinScan/Dynamic Pedaling Analysis- During this 1 hour session, your pedaling style will be studied and recorded using the CompuTrainer in our office. You will get instant feedback on how you pedal your bicycle, including right/left leg power balance, pedaling efficiency, and analysis of “deadspots.” A large percentage of time is spent doing pedaling drills that work on improving your efficiency on the bicycle. At the end of this session, you will be given an summary of your session, and homework drills specific for imbalances found in your scan.
**For all bicycle services, please bring your bicycle, ride clothing, shoes, heart rate monitor/strap, and any other gear that will be evaluated. Please plan on arriving 15 minutes early to change clothing. We look forward to being a part of your performance team!
